Tuesday Trends : Maskne – how to combat it
When the world first started wearing masks everywhere, my initial thought was ‘great, no more makeup!’
However, what many people were not aware of was the effect that wearing a mask would have on their skin.
My top tips to avoid what we now call ‘maskne’
1- If you wear disposable masks make sure you actually do dispose of them. The same goes for reusable masks, they have to be washed every few days to kill the germs and bacteria that can causes the maskne.
2- The one product that made a HUGE difference for me is the Medik8 Blemish Clearing Pads. These pads contain salicylic acid, known as being a strong ingredient for blemish prone skin. This can be quite drying, so I would advise using it once a day. If you find it too drying use once every other day.
3- Freshening up your face during the day with a skin helping spritz is a great idea. My recommendations would be the Mario Badescu facial sprays or the Jane Iredale hydration sprays.
4- Use a clay mask once or twice a week to remove the bacteria and impurities that have built up on your skin. I would recommend using the Elemis Herbal Lavender Mask or the Origins Skin Clearing Mask. Both masks contain ingredients that will keep the blemishes at bay!
