Tuesday Trends: Golden Globes
Golden Globes fashion 2020
So, last week saw Hollywood’s finest A listers hit the red carpet for the second most prestigious film and fashion event of the year- The 77th Annual Golden Globes. The most prestigious being, of course, the Oscars which will happen next month.
Now, as always, I am more interested in the fashion than the actual winners (Please don’t tell Rehna this)!
Here is a run down of the hot (and not so hot) picks from the night.
Jennifer Aniston rocks Dior
The dress of the evening, in my eyes, was the beautiful Jennifer Aniston who wore this gorgeous Dior gown. Very classic Dior. Is there anything Jennifer can’t wear? Classic and beautiful. I like to think she was wearing trainers under this stunning gown for comfort.
Jennifer Lopez in Valentino
Now, I am a huge fan of bows. However, I kind of feel as though Jennifer Lopez arrived a couple of weeks too late for Christmas in her Valentino bow gown. I think it was the green and gold with the white, which does not quite work for me. If, however, this gown had been completely red it would have, in my view, been the dress of the night. Practically, it also gives me bad anxiety to think how dirty the bottom of the dress must have been by the end of the evening. Who thought white was the right colour for the bottom of this dress?
There is also the practicality of how one goes to the bathroom in this frock? Any toilet break is certainly more of a short vacation than a break and most certainly a 2 or 3 person job!
Reece Witherspoon in Roland Mouret
I am a huge fan of Reese Witherspoon’s Instagram page and she did not disappoint at the Golden Globes. Reese made the cutest video of her prep for the big night from picking the dress to hair and make up. Featured in the short video were two dresses (a black and white one). I personally preferred the black one. However, the shape and style of the chosen white one is fabulous. Reese’s hair was also so simple and yet so sleek. Reese said that white was a bold choice given the amount of make up and no doubt bright red lipsticks and ‘cuddles’ on the night. I would be intrigued to know how much make up ended up on this frock.
Billy Porter – Custom made Hogan McLaughlin jumpsuit
My number one award for “best dressed male” has to go to Billy Porter. Billy is famous for wearing outrageous outfits to awards ceremonies and he did not disappoint last week when he turned up rocking this white jumpsit with afeather train. Fabulous darling!
Nicole Kidman- In Omega
Nicole also did not let me down in this simple, yet elegant, red gown with the most fabulous front split. I am in awe of her décolletage which means she has this fantastic ability to be able to wear strapless dresses flawlessly.
Kerry Washington – In Altuzarra
Now, this is an outfit you need to wear with care! In my view, it’s not something you could wear to eat a meal in a restaurant, dance in a nightclub or meet the in laws for the first time. If you wore this to a legal ceremony you would be spoken about for weeks. I’m actually struggling to think of places you could wear this to at all…………………. A brave choice Kerry!
Olivia Coleman in Emilia Wickstead
Olivia showed the world that puff ball sleeves were not left in the 80’s and are very much “on trend” by wearing this gorgeous puff ball dress.
Big shout out to Leonardo DiCaprio for rocking these Jimmy Choo shoes. Gorgeous!
I wonder how long and how many people it took to get these shoes this shiny. Got to love a man with sparkling shoes!
I am eagerly and excitedly awaiting the Oscars to see what outrageous and gorgeous frocks and shoes we’ll see there!
