Thursday Thumbs Up: Patara restaurant

An expected early finish in court can mean being able to keep a lunch appointment and that’s always a pleasure.

I went to the launch of Patara in Wimbledon village 2 years ago, so it was good to go back recently and check out the regular menu. (Wimbledon is the newest branch, the other restaurants are in Hampstead, South Kensington and Oxford Circus)

Notes jotted down over lunch:

Set lunch : £16.95, 2 courses- good choice of dishes

Complimentary prawn crackers. It’s a nice touch, they value their customers.

Succulent chicken satay starter , golden and nicely grilled with peanut sauce and pickled vegetables. Portions are generous. Ingredients are fresh and good quality.

Chilli basil noodles with prawns main – attractively presented which can be difficult with a noodle dish. Properly hot!

Very friendly staff. Attractive decor.
