Monday Music and Movies BAFTAs

Good evening all!

In case you hadn’t noticed, yesterday evening saw the 74th BAFTA ceremony in a virtual broadcast in over 160 territories from the Royal Albert Hall. It was the first of the Academy’s film award ceremonies to be held virtually.

For your earworm tonight are songs performed by last night’s musical guests.

English singer/songwriter Liam Payne who shot to fame as a member of boy band ‘One Direction’ opened the show, performing his 2020 single ‘Midnight’ in what was the first ever holographic performance.

British singer/songwriter Celeste, who won the Rising Star Award at the 2019 Brit Awards, gave a stunning performance of her 2020 single ‘Hear My Voice’ from the soundtrack of best film Nominee ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’.

American actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr took to the stage twice to perform ‘Speak Now’, which he co-wrote for the film ‘One Night in Miami’ and for which he was nominated for best actor in a supporting role and again with British singer/songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae as they performed a duet of the 1964 track ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’, which also features in the film, originally sung by American recording artist Sam Cooke.

Until next time!

Enjoy!
