Monday Mood: 22.7.19 Colours by Eliza

Happy Monday to you!

It’s Monday Mood time again! … Later, I’ll be asking you a question, so please keep an eye out for that.

Today’s #MondayMood theme is colour! … Colour defines us. It affects how we feel subconsciously. It has long been known that artists and designers alike have believed that colour has a direct impact on our emotions, which in turn, can dramatically affect our moods.

One of my favourite poets is Christina Rossetti and her poem entitled “Colour” is ideally suited for this week’s theme.

COLOUR
By Christina Rossetti (1830-1894)

What is pink? a rose is pink
By a fountain’s brink.
What is red? a poppy’s red
In its barley bed.
What is blue? the sky is blue
Where the clouds float thro’.
What is white? a swan is white
Sailing in the light.
What is yellow? pears are yellow,
Rich and ripe and mellow.
What is green? the grass is green,
With small flowers between.
What is violet? clouds are violet
In the summer twilight.
What is orange? Why, an orange,
Just an orange!

So! What is my favourite colour? Well, I am a Goth, so it may, or may not, surprise you to know that my favourite colour is, black! … Or maybe, just maybe, I was scarred for life when forced to learn all 29 colours of Joseph’s Coat (The Coat of Many Colours), when I appeared in a school production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat when I was 11! *Unfortunately, it has never left my mind!*

Anyway, back to black … and before anyone asks, I know black isn’t strictly a colour, but I love what it represents … mystery, elegance and sophistication.

Now, earlier I asked you to keep a watchful eye out for a question. So, what is your colour preference? All that I require of you is to choose a colour, tweet it under It’s A Lawyers Life’s #MondayMood post and I’ll choose a song for you. It can be your favourite colour or simply choose a colour you think reflects your current mood!

This week, I’ve chosen three songs from my Spotify ‘Black’ playlist incorporating psychedelic rock to blues rock and contemporary rhythm and blues for you to tune into. Enjoy!

Hope you all have a good week.
