Tuesday Trends: A Cinderella Christmas by Keeley

Cinderella is proof a pair of shoes can change your life

So, following on from my glitter dress article last week, I thought it wholly necessary  to write about glitter shoes this week.

Anyone  who knows me will know of my love for, not just shoes, but in particular glitter shoes. I am more Coco Chanel than Coq an vin and given half the chance I would use my kitchen oven for shoe storage, as opposed to cooking.

I recently turned another year older and have had a pair of Jimmy Choo’s on my wish list for sometime. Well. that wish came true in the form of these beauties from my husband:

Whilst picking these out in the shop (he dare not go solo in purchasing shoes for me) I could not but notice the most beautiful and vivid sparkling shoes I have ever set eyes on. They were perfectly perched on a pedestal in the middle of the shop. Yes, I did have the audacity to pick them up thinking this legal aid family lawyer may actually be able to afford them (I can but dream right?!). Unfortunately NOT. They were more than 5 times the amount of my newly purchased Jimmy’s but WOW just WOW. Therefore, instead of going home with them I unashamedly  sat and stared at them from afar.

My good friend and barrister Alison Moore and I spend most of our text chat talking about glitter shoes. This has now got to the point where we actually refer to meeting them and taking “them” (the shoes) on evenings out for cocktails. Some may say this is pretty sad for two professional women but it brightens our day none the less. Check out Alison’s glitter shoes, which she took on an outing to the chambers Christmas party last week.

If you’re looking for some reasonably priced but comfortable glitter shoes look no further than Marks and Spencers !

I know, who would have thought good old Marks and Sparks would come up trumps. These beauties are owned not just by me, but my good friend and barrister Sharon Bhachu. Every time I wear them, someone comments. Especially the emerald green ones. Very princess like!

I often get asked at work and on nights out how I manage to wear heels all day long without wanting to cut my feet off. Now, I truly believe that my years of perseverance on nights out when I was younger mean my feet died years ago. Or maybe it’s got something to do with the fact I have rather large feet for a lady. My feet are, in fact, the same size as my dads! So whilst my mum gets to wear in my sister’s Louboutins around the house (they are the same size) I, on the other hand, have to wear in my own shoes, unless I ask my dad which I don’t think he would be too keen on!

One of my top tricks though is ibuprofen gel. Rub some on your feet before a night out and carry it in your bag to re-apply if needed, paying particular attention to the packet instructions.  It actually works and stops your feet hurting!
