Thursday Thoughts : From First Six to Second Six Pupillage, ‘The Anticipation’
From First Six to Second Six Pupillage, ‘The Anticipation’
We wish our Pupil Perspective contributor Leah, the best of luck as she embarks on her 2nd six months of pupillage. She shares her nervous excitement at the prospect:
***
All barristers will have been in my position at one stage in their career. Many of you will remember it well. It’s now my turn to take the leap of faith from first six to second six.
I’d like to say I cannot wait to be on my feet but that would be lying. The truth is I don’t know how I feel! I’m excited, anxious and dubious all at the same time and I’m sure I’m not the only one that has felt like this.
My main concern is doing a good job and not looking like too much of a novice. I’ve also heard that the work load from first six to second six doubles…how can that be possible!?
If that is the case, will I ever sleep again?
Either way, I have no choice because in less than 4 working days I will be on my own in front of a REAL JUDGE with REAL CLIENTS. Wish me luck!
